Clayton Piano Festival hosts an intensive, day-long piano performance seminar designed to present students with the opportunity to hone their skills and deepen their understanding of the art of piano performance. All events are free and open to the public.
11:00-1:00 pm – Masterclass - presented by Margaret Evans – First Baptist Church of Clayton
Students will learn to improve their own performances through the expertise of Meredith College professor Margaret Evans.
2:00-3:30pm – Principles of Technique - presented by Angelo Rondello – The Women’s Club of Clayton Clubhouse
A discussion of the core elements of physical, musical, and expressive technique at the keyboard. A Q&A session will follow.
4:00-5:30 – Masters of the Keyboard - presented by Jonathan Levin – The Women’s Club of Clayton Clubhouse
Through listening to landmark recordings by Cortot, Rachmaninov, Horowitz, and others, the class will analyze what made these performers great.
7:00 pm Closing Concert - hosted by Angelo Rondello – Bethesda Baptist Church
