Artistic Director of Clayton Piano Festival, Jonathan Levin, hosts a public performance of Sergei Prokofiev’s timeless classic, Peter and the Wolf. The show will begin with a brief introductory talk about musical characterization and how each personality in the story is represented by different types of music. Every child can identify with Peter, the adventurous and confident young boy who ignores his grandfather’s admonition to stay safely near home. In the course of his exploration of the forbidden meadow with his friend the bird, they meet a duck, a cat, and a wolf, all represented by different themes. A slide show with illustrations from the story will run throughout the performance. At the conclusion the floor is opened up for questions.
