Educational Outreach

Education Outreach is a central part of Clayton Piano Festival’s commitment to bringing great music to people of all ages and levels of exposure to classical music. If you are interested in hosting the outreach show or have questions about the show please contact us at  or contact us at 919.606.9703.

Carnival of the Animals

In this years outreach program, Artistic Director of Clayton Piano Festival, Jonathan Levin, hosts  performances of Camille Saint-Saens timeless classic, Carnival of the Animals.  The show will begin with a brief introductory talk about musical characterization and how each part of the work depicts a different animal.  In this adventurous zoological tour we will encounter lions, roosters, elephants, wild donkeys, kangaroos, fish, turtles, swans, even fossils, plus one of the strangest animals of all – pianists!   A slide show with illustrations will run throughout the performance.  At the conclusion the floor is opened up for questions.

Outreach performances are provided as a free service to schools both public and private, homeschool groups, or church groups. Be sure to contact us soon to assure a spot, as there is only a limited amount of time in the schedule the week before the main stage festival.
